USA: Oakland airport baggage handler gets 9 years for smuggling meth on Hawaii plane.
OAKLAND -- An Oakland International Airport baggage handler was sentenced to nine years in prison on Tuesday for smuggling nine pounds of methamphetamine on a Hawaii-bound flight.
Siosiua Fihaki, 32, of Hayward, was caught after the pounds of meth was found in the baggage area of the plane from Oakland to Honolulu on May 29, 2014, according to U.S. Attorney's Office.
The baggage handler admitted to using his airport credentials to gain access to a secure door at the airport, while smuggling in a duffel bag full of the drug. Fihaki then put the duffel bag into the belly of an airplane with other checked-in baggage on the flight that was bound for Honolulu, prosecutors said.
