UAE: Dubai airport baggage handler 'stole from passenger's bag'.
A 27-year-old Emirates Airline baggage handler is accused of stealing a mobile earpiece from a passenger’s luggage. Prosecutors told Dubai Criminal Court that on September 5 last year Pakistani M M opened a passenger’s luggage and stole the earpiece and that he also stole five decks of playing cards from the airline.
“We received a report of the incident from Dubai International Airport and therefore double checked the surveillance cameras,” testified F A, an Emirati policeman.
He said the defendant was seen opening baggage, going through them and then taking the earpiece from one of the bags. When questioned, the baggage handler confessed to police that he had been opening luggage looking for valuables to steal but he never found anything valuable, so he took earpiece.
“At his residence, we found five boxes of playing cards, which he said he stole from Emirates Airline, as well as the headphone he took from a passenger’s bag,” said F A.
The defendant confessed to theft charges in court on Monday morning.
