Philippines/Hong Kong: Airport staff under investigation for drug trafficking.
Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) general manager Ed Monreal said is office is investigating several airport personnel who are allegedly involved in trafficking of illegal drugs to Hong Kong — following the arrest of a Filipina, Ann Raian Santos Cruz, at the Chek Lap Kok International Airport on July 30.
Cruz was nabbed after airport officers were able to confiscate $750,000 or P4.5 million worth of cocaine in her bag. Montreal has also revealed that the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) personnel who “transacted” with Cruz have been identified. Hongkong News reported that the MIAA general manager will announce the names of the suspects once results of the investigation conducted by the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) has been released.
