Pakistan: PIA starts probe into heroin smuggling bid on Dubai bound flight.
Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has started probe into an attempt to smuggle heroin abroad thorough a Dubai-bound flight. The PIA is taking the matter seriously to unveil the facts as to how the heroin was brought in the airplane and hid behind the lavatory cabinets to smuggle it to Dubai from Islamabad, said Danial Gilani, the spokesman of PIA while talking to The Nation yesterday. He said that usually every flight and passengers have been thoroughly checked by the authorities concerned including Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and Pakistan Customs before taking off from the airport. He said that PIA high-ups lauded the services of cabin crew who had detected the narcotics in the lavatory and later informed the air traffic control. “The cabin crew has definitely saved Pakistan from international humiliation and fine of millions of rupees she has to face/pay if the smugglers managed to smuggle heroin to Dubai,” Danial said.
