Australia: Shotgun stolen after check in at Townsville or Darwin Airport.
A SHOTGUN was stolen from an Airnorth flight at Darwin Airport, sparking security concerns and a federal police investigation.
The NT News understands, the shotgun was registered and appropriately checked in on the Darwin-bound flight from Townsville last Friday. But the firearm did not make it to the baggage carousel at Darwin Airport and has still not been recovered.
Details about the theft remain a mystery. Darwin Airport refused to comment on the security breach — instead referring questions to the Australian Federal Police.
“The AFP can confirm it is investigating the alleged theft of a firearm from a recent Darwin to Townsville flight,” an AFP spokesman said.
